Featured TCM treatment for cracked and chapped nipples
Cracked nipples are a common condition during lactation. In mild cases, only the surface of the nipple appears to be cracked, while in aggravated cases the lesion may exude fluid and blood, and exhibit delayed healing with repeated recurrences, resulting in formation of small ulcers. Improper care can easily cause retrograde infection and the formation of breast carbuncles. Patients often experience severe stabbing pain during breastfeeding causing avoidance.
We use natural Chinese herbal medication along with a homemade herbal nipple cream blended with edible sesame oil and formulated uniquely to treat cracked nipples. It is formulated to help reduce swelling and pain, assist with stopping of bleeding, closing of open wounds, debride and promote growth of new flesh, and protect nipple mucosa. In typical cases, within 1-2 days of application, nipple pain can significantly decrease and within 3-4 days the wound will heal, though individual results may vary.
